- Why did you start the Gaushala/farm?
It started as a private farm in 2017. We started with 3 cows, 1 bull, 2 horses and 1 pony, all rescues. Plus our family loves nature and living on the farm. Our family’s spiritual guru has given us instructions to serve the cows.
2. Do you sell or give away any of your animals?
We do not sell, slaughter, or give any of our animals. They will live their lives naturally on the farm until they get old and naturally pass away.
3. Why do you charge for feeding the cows?
We opened to public only in late 2023, previously people would come visit and feed cows without charge. However, a few unfortunate incidents (people bringing rotten, expired and unconsumable stuff) which led to 2 of our cows passing away, we had to implement strict rules for visiting and feeding to protect our cows/bulls, and horses. This is the reason we supervise all our feedings to avoid any issues for our animals.
4. Do you offer any private bookings for events, like Birthday parties, etc.
No, we are not offering any facility for birthday parties or events. We are working on something hopefully in a year or 2.
5. Why can’t we bring our own food as it’s customary to cook something with our hands and feeds the cows?
Our cows, bulls, horses and our dog have strict diets. They cannot digest cooked items such as: Rotis, wheat or processed foods. Jaggery is also limited as it creates in the stomach of the cows and bulls.
